I was invited as a guest speaker to “BEGIN,” an “inquiry-based workshop” held twice a year for high school students through the collaborative efforts of APU faculty and students. The details of the BEGIN program are as follows (https://www.apumate.net/event/begin/):

[The BEGIN (Basic Education Growing Infinity Nexus) Program is a workshop designed to maximize your potential, based on the concept of “connecting each other’s growth infinitely through foundational learning at APU.” Its primary goal is to provide hands-on learning of the skills and attitudes necessary for global professionals. Through various missions, participants develop discussion skills, communication skills, an understanding of diversity, problem-identification and -solving abilities, and presentation skills.]

The title of my mini-lecture was a provocative one: “I Shall Hand Out the ‘Keys to Success’ in the AI Era—Is There Any Point in Thinking About ‘Yourself 10 Years from Now’ When We Can’t Even Predict What Will Happen Three Years from Now?” Coincidentally, this was the final installment of the BEGIN program, so I really put my all into it—to much so that I ended up speaking for 40 minutes instead of the scheduled 20… However, the response from the students was very positive, so I think I managed to fulfill my role.

私のミニ講義のタイトルは「AI時代の「成功のカギ」を与えよう～ ３年先も予測できないのに「10年後の自分」を考えることの意味はあるのか？ ～」という尖ったもの。BEGINは今回が最後の開催となるらしく、こちらも気合を入れて行ったら予定20分のところを40分も喋ってしまい申し訳ございません…。が、とてもよい反響があったので役目は果たせたかなと思っています。
