Research shows more and more that “lack of sleep contributes to anxiety and difficulty managing emotions.” It’s true. Not just that you see more abnormal behaviors among sleep-deprived folks, but they become less compassionate and lose their powers of emotional regulation. The backfire like those obviously harm your reputation and well-being.
Seriously, we’ve gotta sleep more. We probably have to take our 6-9-hr sleep life as crucial as our 6-9-hr working life. We’ve all experienced that we somehow “solved” tough problems after a good night sleep, you know. I actually do give advice of “having a sound sleep” to young researchers and entrepreneurs.
Then the biggest enemy for a sound sleep is fear and worry that are products of stress we store during daytime. So do meditate, for example, before going to bed. It’s always interesting to learn those “seemingly sleep-like (or sleep itself)” activities contribute our non-sleep well-being conditions.
