Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University held an experiential event titled “Art and D&I: ‘See, Create, Think.’” In collaboration with Heralbony Co., Ltd., the art NPO BEPPU PROJECT, and others, the university implemented a program that allowed students, faculty and staff, and local community members to experience diversity through art. A total of 45 participants, including students, faculty and staff, and local residents, attended the event.

During the panel discussion, Mr. Ieiri, Director of BEPPU PROJECT, and Associate Dean Hirahara of the School of International Management took the stage to discuss how art can serve as a gateway to creating spaces where diverse people can come together. Mr. Ieiri shared examples of artists conducting artist-in-residence programs in Beppu who are naturally accepted by local residents regardless of age or gender. He spoke about how art has the power to connect people with their communities and embrace a diverse range of individuals.

立命館アジア太平洋大学は、体験型イベント「アートとD&I『みる・つくる・考える』」を開催しました。株式会社ヘラルボニー、アートNPO法人 BEPPU PROJECT等と連携し、学生、教職員、地域の参加者が、アートを通して多様性を体感するプログラムを実施しました。当日は学生、教職員、地域の方々など合計45名が参加しました。

パネルディスカッションでは、BEPPU PROJECTディレクターの家入氏と、国際経営学部の平原副学部長が登壇し、アートを入口に多様な人々が交わる場づくりについて議論がなされました。家入氏は、別府の街で滞在制作を行うアーティストが、年齢や性別を問わず地域住民に自然に受け入れられている事例を紹介。アートが人と地域をつなぎ、多様な人々を包み込む力を持つことを語りました。
