I know. I know it’ll happen. Dato’ Professor Adeeba Kamarulzaman at UM (Universiti Malaya) is moving to her new place. It seems to me she has been on move of getting outside. So when I first saw the news, it was no surprising to me. (Her new position being CEO was a bit of surprise, though.)

Adeeba is a great scholar and educator with no doubt about it. She was the ex-Dean of Faculty of Medicine at UM and together with my good friend Prof. CJ Ng, ex-Vice-Dean of FoM, invited me to come join in UM years ago. Because of the administrative reshuffling both of them stepped down of the top managerial camp, which made me sad. But she has kept generously helping me and my family by inviting her open-house party during the first Hari Raya for our family and so on.

I’m hoping to keep working with and for her, for sure, to “serve the nation and impact the world,” as UM’s slogan has it. After all, Monash Malaysia is in Subang Jaya, where our condo is, much closer than UM.
